PrecisionMed’s FFPE Tissue

PrecisionMed has a large inventory of FFPE tissue blocks that include a wide variety of diseased and normal tissue.

We also have access to rare tumor/disease types procured through our network of research-experienced specialist physician clinical sites. Our samples are well annotated, and pathologist-reviewed to ensure their integrity and backed by the PrecisionMed guarantee.

Diseased/tumor and adjacent normal tissues from a single donor are available in formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) and/or snap frozen formats. Various combinations of tissue are available including matched tissue/biofluid sets.

All tissue blocks and accompanying clinical information are de-identified in order to preserve patient anonymity and meet all local and federal regulations. In addition, PrecisionMed works with an Institutional Review Board (IRB) to ensure that all aspects of our services meet regulatory requirements.

General Information About FFPE Tissue

Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue is a key resource for researchers. The tissue can be stored almost indefinitely at room temperature, and nucleic acids (both DNA and RNA) may be recovered from FFPE tissue for a significant time after fixation. Each tissue sample includes detailed clinical data.

Sourcing Tissue Samples (FFPE Tissue Samples)

PrecisionMed’s samples and matched clinical data are handled in accordance with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all applicable rules and regulations. Theses include:

  • The recommendations of the Council of the Human Genome Organization (HUGO)
  • Ethical, Legal, and Social Issues Committee (HUGO-ELSI, 1998)
  • The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization’s (UNESCO)
  • Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights (1997)
  • Recommendations guiding physicians in biomedical research involving human subjects adopted by the 18th World Medical Assembly, Helsinki, Finland, 1964 and later revisions

Additional Banked Material Matched to FFPE

Diseased/tumor and adjacent normal tissues from a single donor are available in formalin fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) and/or snap frozen formats.

Various combinations of tissue are available including matched tissue/biofluid sets, such as matched plasma and solid tumor from newly diagnosed patients.

Detailed clinical data are available with matched plasma and tissue samples.
